Welcome to Kaitxo, a charming chocolate café nestled in the heart of Balmaseda, Bizkaia. A true haven for chocolate lovers, Kaitxo specializes in bean-to-bar creations that are anything but ordinary. This renowned establishment draws upon the rich chocolate-making traditions of the Basque Country, skillfully crafting each delightful treat to showcase the unique flavors of premium cacao sourced from regions such as Tanzania and Nicaragua.

The ambiance at Kaitxo is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot to indulge your senses. The moment you step inside, the aroma of rich, melting chocolate envelops you, instantly transporting you to a world of sweet temptation. A unique blend of rustic decor combined with modern flair invites you to sit down, relax, and relish in the chocolatey delights on offer.

Now, let’s talk about the chocolate itself. Customers rave about the exquisite dark chocolate, particularly the varieties hailing from Tanzania, which boast a subtly granular texture and a wealth of aromatic nuances. As one delighted customer, Ewa Chylewska, puts it, “Dark chocolate from Tanzania tastes nothing like the mass-produced ones; it has distinctive sour and floral notes.” If you're after something that perfectly harmonizes sweetness with complexity, don’t miss the Dark Milk Earl Grey chocolate, a favorite among regulars, as noted by Fia: “It’s one of the best I have ever tried!”

If the allure of chocolate isn’t enough to entice you, Kaitxo also offers an impressive selection of coffees. Although considered moderate compared to their chocolate offerings, many patrons still find joy in their brews. Tom summed it up with a cheerful “5* for the chocolate, 4* for the coffee, Gora Kaitxo!”

For those who relish unique flavor profiles, the caramel pistachio white chocolate bar offers a delectable surprise. Tania Klymets was taken aback by its delicate and smooth texture, remarking that “this one… this one is delicate. Smooth and creamy, with a subtle cocoa aftertaste.” It’s the kind of chocolate that transforms a mere snack into a celebration.

Aside from its rich chocolate creations, Kaitxo prides itself on the educational aspect of its offerings. As customer Nspsm MGM experiences it, visiting Kaitxo is “una maravilla de cata donde se aprende además de disfrutar.” Here, you don’t just taste; you embark on a journey of discovery, appreciating the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into each piece.

In a world where mass-produced chocolate often lacks soul, Kaitxo stands out as a beacon of quality, artistry, and authenticity. Whether you're looking for a place to indulge yourself or a perfect gift for a loved one, Kaitxo is an experience not to be missed. Treat yourself to a visit, and you’ll leave with a newfound appreciation for chocolate—and perhaps a box of your new favorite flavors to savor later.

Coffee is just good, but the chocolate is out of this world! It's so rich, complex and creamy. Dark chocolate from Tanzania tastes nothing like the mass produced ones, it has distinctive sour and floral notes. Dark milk chocolate made with Peru beans is also highly recommended.

I’ve only tried one flavor so far — caramel pistachio — and I’m already impressed. I expected a gooey filling, but it turned out to be a creamy pistachio white chocolate bar. And what a surprise that was. White chocolate is usually just overly sweet and heavy, but this one… this one is delicate. Smooth and creamy, with a subtle cocoa aftertaste. It’s the kind of chocolate you don’t just snack on — you savor it slowly, piece by piece. Beautiful packaging, elegant taste, and real enjoyment.
